BOB ENGELMAN


Bob Engelman made his first film in 1973 at UCLA, a student film that won the Jim Morrison award. He then went on to apprentice with the late cinematographer, John Alonzo, on Bad News Bears, Black Sunday and Casey’s Shadow to name a few. Next, Bob became an assistant director, working on such films as "Steel Magnolias" (Herbert Ross) and "The Serpent" and the "Rainbow" (Wes Craven). Bob soon became a line producer, working for Westgate Films making movies of the week and very shortly thereaqer began to work on big budgeted films. Bob produced "The Mask", "Mortal Kombat", "One Night Stand", "Blade", "Lidle Nicky", "Mystery Men" and "Scooby Doo", among others. Following these big budget projects, Bob became interested in making smaller independent films. The first independent project that he produced was with his brother Tom, titled "Alone with Her". The film was shot entirly in his back yard and in the surrounding neighborhood. Bob has continued making independent films, working for Mike Richardson at Dark Horse entertainment. The first project was "Driqwood" followed by "Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project", directed by John Landis. Bob then worked on his first animation project, "Foodfight!"
